Melissa Neil

b. 1977, Canada

Melissa Neil is a Canadian painter based in Hamilton, Ontario. Neil is known for her lushly painted landscapes on mylar and linen. Her work exalts the wild, mystical and sentimental found in forms of nature - both naturally occurring and manufactured by humans - often drawing on such imagery as gravel pits, brush piles, sand dunes, sand pits, beach vegetation and structures.


Melissa Neil is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design. Her work has been included in exhibitions at You Me Gallery (Hamilton) 2024, the Peterborough Art Gallery (Peterborough), 2023; Art Interiors (Toronto), 2023; Carnegie Gallery, (Dundas), 2022; Carmichael Canadian Landscape Exhibition: Tradition Transformed, Orillia Museum of Art & History, 2022 and 2015; Hamilton Central Public Library, 2022; Youme Gallery (Hamilton), 2018; Assembly Gallery (Hamilton), 2017; Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, 2016; Studio Huddle, Toronto, 2014 and at Fine & Dandy window gallery, Toronto, 2014. She is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and has works held in private collections in Ontario. Melissa works out of a historic studio building in Hamilton, Ontario.
